Pongola Game Reserve

This reserve is 10 485 ha and is a major fishing and bird watching attraction. The Tiger Fish Bonanza is held annually in September by the Sodwana Angling Club. An entrance fee is payable on arrival and if you intend on staying over at the campsites then a camping fee is also payable at the gate. There are 6 diverse destinations to choose from within the reserve. Picnic spots and two boat launch sites are also found on the reserve. There are also great water based activities to partake in such as canoeing.

The Reserve has a rare Golela veld which is imperative to the breeding of the Suni Antelope. It is also home to 300 bird species as well as a variety of game such as rhino, impala and zebra. The Reserve has received many awards, the most recent being in 2007 for the National game farmer of the year, awarded by Wildlife Ranching SA.

Special precautions need to be taken before visiting this game reserve as it does fall within a Malaria area.
